Melinda Made A Snowman

Melinda made a snowman,
which she gave a carrot nose.
She placed some rubber boots
on what she figured were his toes.

Melinda gave him charcoal eyes,
and after one last pat,
upon her snowman’s frozen head
she placed her father’s hat.

She thought him nearly finished,
and then as a final note,
she took her father’s favorite tie
and draped it ’round his throat.

Melinda was so proud of him,
she rushed upstairs with glee.
She hollered to her mom and dad
to “Hurry, come and see!”

But by the time they came downstairs
Melinda cried and cried.
“Melinda,” Mom and Dad said,
“snowmen must be made outside.”

  3. I think this poem is great because it shows what alot of kids do in the winter. Another part I want to comment on is the part where she put her fathers favorite scarf on a snowman and how do you put rubber boots on a snow man. The ending was ery funny because she called her parents and she was so happy but then sarted to cry because she built a snowman in the house and it melted.

  5. I like this poem because it rhymes, I don't realy see alot of rhyming poems. The part I did not get was that Melinda why would make a snowman inside, I wonder how old Melinda is? I can't believe that she would put her father`s favorite tie around the snowman neck.

  6. I Think this poem rhymes alot. My favorite line was Melinda mom and dad said Snow Man are suppose to be outside!! I really enjoyed reading this poem. I think this poem is also very descripitive, for example she took her dads tie and draped it around the snowmans neck so it could be a scarf. This poem really relates to me in the winter when the snow has falled and I really what to go outside, but the thing is that I really can not make snowmans, I have tried and tried but I never ever could make one. I also think this poem relates to kids in the winter when they want to go outside and make snowballs or have a snoball fight. I believe if i ever had done that my mom would be extemely mad at me for doing that. This poem is awesome. I think this poem is my favorite one so far.

The comment that you posted really connects to me to when it was mother's day and I wanted to make something really good to show my mom that I really apreciate her and it turns out that I burnt the toast and put to much butter on the bread then my mom said" Kayla thankyou but stick to making cards for awhile".

  9. I really wonder how old Melinda is because a 5,6,7,8 and so on would no not to make a smowman inside. I also keep on wondering how come the snowman did not melt because ofcourse they are going to be heat in the house because it is so cold, if anybody could answer my thought could you please tell me?

  10. Hi! I really like this poem a lot! I first thought it was by the author Kenn Nisbett because Kenn usually has very funny poems and just like this one they are about crazy things or toughts. This poem is very fictional because you could never build a snowman inside without it melting instantly unless it was like really icy snow. I also wonder if this author is related to Kenn in anyway because they both have the same funny poem writing talent! [ You know what I mean! ]If you Mrs.Mesnick would put up poems by these two authors I would love it because they are on the top of my favorite poem writer's list! I am very happy to have this little site to work with and I love everybody posts! Keep up the good work everybody!

Anyway,I really like this poem because remids me of when my sister and I made a snow person , except it was out side in our back yard. If my sister and I had done it in the house, we would have been grounded not for the rest of our lives, but even after we were dead! Hey,look on the bright side, they have really good heating!
